You’re aware that we are major supporters of anything green. Environmental issues are something that we pay attention to and report on when we can. Milliken have provided us with a double whammy as they have officially joined forces with the London Re-use Network which is an association of charities and social enterprises that work together to collect, repair and refurbish unwanted furniture and other household items.
The premise is simple. Housing projects and other schemes are trying to make Social housing more comfortable and they are taking the unwanted household items and giving them a new lease of life. Milliken have donated carpet tiles which are now installed in the newly re-furbished Enfield Re-use centre which had previously been destroyed due to flooding.
Development manager for London Re-use, Richard Featherstone said, Milliken’s involvement has helped to make a big difference. Carpet tiles are easy to install and really help turn a house into a home. They are especially important to young families who may have children crawling about. Our staff has been particularly pleased with the quality of the tiles that Milliken donated.”
Milliken is a massive company that could be forgiven for considering themselves above supporting charities. They have however carefully selected a charity that they best feel they can support fully. By being green as well as making a difference to social housing, we think Milliken have made an astute choice.
